Highways

Occam Consulting Engineers bring years of experience in the planning, design, and management of highway systems. Occam staff have been involved in design of two lane rural roads, in urban freeways and toll roads, and in projects as complex as multi-level interchange reconstruction while maintaining the movement of traffic through the construction area.

Occam projects have included context sensitive designs through valuable natural resources; they have included urban reconstruction of interchanges in some of our largest cities; they have included projects in close proximity to some of our oldest tunnels and utilities; they have included projects in steep and difficult terrain. Our staff are experienced in design of highways as part of multi-modal corridors; they also bring experience in development of designs to accommodate storm drainage challenges.

Occam projects have included new location highways as well as reconstruction and retrofit of existing facilities. Our projects have involved other elements of highway development including structural aspects, from foundations, to walls, to bridges. They have also included landscape amenities and sound barriers, natural and man-made, to help fit a project into its setting. On toll roads, our projects have included the development of toll plazas, as well as improvements to the facility itself, and interchange areas.
